Orlando, Fla. (March 20, 2007) Inglewood, Calif. – On Monday, February 12, Red Lobster unveils its first restaurant in Inglewood, opening to guests at 4 p.m. with a menu of fresh fish, live Maine lobsters and all of the traditional Red Lobster favorites. The restaurant’s opening adds the final touch to the Village at Century shopping center on the corner of Century Boulevard and Club Drive.
Joining Darden CEO Clarence Otis Jr. at the grand opening is Inglewood Mayor Roosevelt Dorn and Councilman Ralph Franklin. Together they will celebrate the 242 new jobs created for local area residents. Additionally, a donation will be presented that will be used to help enrich the lives of children living in the area. Red Lobster is donating $7,500 to the Inglewood Leadership Council to grant scholarships to local high school graduates. Red Lobster is also donating $2,500 to Boy Scout troop 636.
“Darden Restaurants and Red Lobster are honored to be part of Inglewood’s revitalization,” said Otis. “As someone who grew up in South Los Angeles, I am proud to be a part of this continued development of this neighborhood and have a hand in providing opportunities for local area residents.”
The new 6,972 square-foot restaurant seats 234 guests and features the company’s most contemporary design, with dark wood paneling and warm, soft lighting, inspired by a restaurant that might be found on the coast of Maine.
During its first week, the restaurant will be open for dinner only, from 4 to 11 p.m. daily. Beginning February 19, the restaurant will open at 11 a.m. for lunch as well.
Fresh Seafood on the Menu
The Inglewood restaurant will feature Red Lobster’s newly expanded fresh fish offerings: Today’s Fresh Fish, with sheets presented tableside in a leatherette binder and listing up to eight species, including regional specialties such as Pacific red rockfish. The fish selection changes daily at every restaurant based on local customer preferences and availability. Like all 680 Red Lobster restaurants across North America, the Inglewood restaurant will print a new Today’s Fresh Fish sheet every day.
Guests can choose to have their fresh fish grilled and lightly seasoned, broiled and lightly seasoned, blacked with Cajun spices or grilled with a new sweet and spicy glaze. In addition, Red Lobster offers innovative fresh fish creations, such as Rock Island Stuffed Tilapia.
Along with fresh fish, Inglewood guests can enjoy other flavorful seafood dishes including shrimp, scallops and crab, accompanied by Cheddar Bay Biscuits that are baked fresh every 15 minutes.
For the many health-conscious Americans who seek foods low in fat, calories or carbohydrates, the Inglewood restaurant offers Red Lobster’s “LightHouse Menu,” providing nutritional information for more than 30 of the most popular items – including numerous entrées, accompaniments, side dishes, dipping sauces and beverages – with the caloric, carbohydrate and fat content for each.
Nutritionists advise consumers to eat more seafood since it is such a healthy protein. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends people eat seafood, with its heart-protecting Omega-3 fatty acids, at least twice a week.
