RED LOBSTER HONORED WITH PRESTIGIOUS MENUMASTERS AWARD
Iconic brand recognized for Today’s Fresh Fish initiative

Orlando, Fla. (May 15, 2008) — Red Lobster today announced it has won a MenuMasters award for Best Menu/Line Extension for the company’s new Today’s Fresh Fish initiative. The annual MenuMasters award, given by Nation's Restaurant News, recognizes the visionary and creative talents of research and development, culinary and menu development staffs and is considered one of the most prestigious honors in the food service industry.

“This award has been a goal of ours as we refresh our menu with a renewed emphasis on freshness and culinary expertise,” said Red Lobster President Kim Lopdrup. “The Today’s Fresh Fish initiative demonstrates Red Lobster’s commitment to fulfilling our guests’ craving for a refreshing seaside dining experience.”

Launched nationwide last year, Today’s Fresh Fish offers guests five to eight fresh fish species each day at all 680 Red Lobster restaurants across North America.  Guests can choose to have their fresh fish grilled and lightly seasoned, broiled and lightly seasoned, blackened with Cajun spices or grilled with a new sweet and spicy glaze. Red Lobster’s Today’s Fresh Fish menu also offers innovative chef’s creations that each restaurant prepares using locally popular species, from grouper to Arctic char. Each day, Red Lobster restaurants print their own Today’s Fresh Fish sheet listing the day’s unique offerings. In addition to favorites such as salmon, trout and tilapia, the sheets include regional species, from wall-eyed pike in the Midwest to Pacific red rockfish on the West Coast.

Nation’s Restaurant News will honor Red Lobster at its MenuMasters awards program this Saturday in Chicago. "Each year, MenuMasters showcases some of the most innovative menu items and promotions that are resonating with customers," said the magazine’s publisher, Tom Larranaga.

Red Lobster introduced the new Today’s Fresh Fish menu as part of an overall brand refreshment strategy that also included new core menu items, an updated menu design, new freshness-inspired advertising, a new restaurant design, new silverware and plateware and a refreshed Web site.
