Omega-3's and Seafood
Good Fat & Great Seafood
Not all fats are to be feared. Scientific research consistently suggests that Omega-3 fatty acids found in some fish and seafood – including salmon, lake trout, mackerel, and albacore tuna – provide tremendous health benefits, from reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and dementia, to boosting mood and brain development in young children.
Also known as Essential Fatty Acids, Omega-3s play a vital role in cell development and growth. Since our bodies cannot make these essential fatty acids, we must get them from our diet. That can be a delicious challenge. At Red Lobster, we can help you meet it. Just look for fish such as salmon and trout on our Today’s Fresh Fish menu or check out our seafood recipes for menu ideas at home in the Chef’s Kitchen.
If the fact that fish is naturally high in Omega-3s and protein and low in carbohydrates isn’t enough inspiration to enjoy what you love, the American Heart Association and the American Dietetic Association both recommend eating seafood at least twice a week.
